My friends from Essex, now bona-fide residents are still here. they return on the 22nd to sell up and move down here. To say they are impressed!! Man, they are gob-smacked. Admittedly the weather has been (and still is) perfect, not a cloud in the sky & around 21-22. Last week I took them down south to the wine country, had 3 days down there, Love it, they did..their 15yo son especially the free pool in the pub. They saw waves that they had only seen on TV, drank free wine at numerous wineries. I had a loan of my neighbours V8 Lexus (he's in Broome) so I was skipper as they imbibed. We stayed at a luxury self contained unit, every thing that opened & shut, 3 bedrooms, a mezzanine etc etc. Plus a log fire which we took advantage of. By the way, it cost $340 for 3 nights, thats about 140 quid. They cannot get over the size of fruit & veges plus the price of meat. Young Luke reckons the burgers here are twice the size and 10 times as tasty. Not talking about big macs here, made in front of you they are. My local pub has a steak house which we visited. Gob smacked again, never, ever tasted steaks like it. For four it cost 40 quid, steaks plus an eat as much as you want salad bar plus sweets, bread rolls & butter plus hot veges if you wanted. They have already opened a bank account, been to a school for Luke & looking at houses. What a family of happy little vegemites! Luke, as all 15yos are, was not to keen but now he wants to stay with me while his folks go home & sell up. Fat chance of that!
