This question is especially aimed at Alyxis, but anyone else is free to respond.
I would appreciate any response that is given.
Again, I am doing my best to make sure this is typed as properly as possible.
When somone starts smoking, at least for most people, they usually do not just pick up the habit right away.
There is a transitional period; this is the period for most people when they are just trying and getting used to smoking.
During this period, most people do not smoke very much, and when they do smoke, they usually not used to smoking.
This means that they often get light headed or high from nicotine and they cough every time they inhale due to their body
not being used to the smoke.
My question concerns a person that is determined to start smoking, but is not doing so until their mid 20s. They
have smoked only occasionally in the past and not at all in in many years. When they have tried to start smoking, even
after many weeks of trying it and smoking about 10-20 cigarettes a day, they are still having difficutly. They cough
after every inhale, no matter how shallow, even after taking a large number of long, deep inhales to try to get
their lungs used to the smoke. Despite this difficulty, they are still determined to start smoking, no matter the
difficulty, cost, or consequences.
Now alyxis has said that it is easier for her to smoke, and that her cough is lessesned, while on oxygen.
Do you think it would make it easier for this person to start smoking and get used to the smoke if they starter
using osygen now while still jsut trying it/getting used to it?
I have proposed this idea to this person, and they said that they wanted to think about it some more while they continue
trying to smoke in the normal fashion. On a side note, when I mentioned this idea to this person, and suggested that
they would need to use a car-type lighter, like the one alyxis said that she uses, they were completely against this
idea and said that they were only interested in using a regular "bic type" lighter, but refused to say more about
why that may be. Would anyone like to offer any comments on this sitaution as well?
