I love to chat on AIM (AOL Instant Messenger). Feel free to message me (screen name gallifrey000).
For the last week I have been talking to a girl on AIM. She is the most amazing smoker that I have ever talked to. She doesn't smoke as much as Alyxis did, for those of you that remember her, but I am not too big on dangling and multiples style wise, so while her consumption is less, I think it's more attractive. This girl is a hairdresser. I am not sure what it is about hair dressers, but many of them seem to smoke, and heavily.
She is 22 and smokes both pot and cigarettes. She started cigarettes at 13 and pot when she was 15 or 16. Her favorite brand is Newports, but the last few years she has not been able to afford them every day. Instead she smokes Marlboro Menthols. She always smokes 100s. With pot, she normally smokes joints, as they are easier. She has an extreme tollerence for pot and can smoke it all day.
She is a true chain smoker and has three distinct smoking styles:
What she calls "smoking normally" is really chain smoking, sort of. She will start out smoking a joint. She usually smokes pot slowly and enjoys it. She takes a drag, inhales, holds it for a while (10-20 seconds), exhales, waits a few seconds, and repeats until the joint is gone. A joint usually takes her between 15 and 20 minutes to roll, light and smoke, but she can smoke one as fast as 10 minutes if she wants. She always lights it with a match, with the joint in her lips. She always smokes weed at this pace in all three styles.
As soon as her joint is done, she reaches for her pack of cigarettes. She shakes one out and grabs it with her lips. She sets the pack down. She picks up her lighter. She flicks the lighter and touches it to the cigarette, she sucks smoke into her mouth. Unlike many smokers, she does not exhale or chuff this smoke out, but inhales it once she has set her lighter down and taken her cigarette out of her mouth. She smokes the cigarette the same was as the joint: she takes a drag, inhales, holds it for a while (10-20 seconds), exhales, waits a few seconds, and repeats until the cigarette is gone. She smokes a cigarette in 4-6 minutes, usually around 5.
Once her cigarette is gone, she lights another joint and continues the process. She is only not smoking for breif periods, maybe 30 seconds or less. Her lungs are only free of smoke for a few seconds at a time. She holds whatever she is smoking in her right hand.
This style is what she calls chain smoking, but is really only referring to cigarettes. She often does this when she is bored or upset. She smokes at the same pace, always clearing her lungs of smoke before taking another drag and never rushing. Just like when she is smoking normally, whenever she finishes a joint, she lights a cigarette. Whenever she finishes this post-joint cigarette, she lights another joint. She smokes joints with just a one cigarette cigarette break in between.
The difference between "normal smoking" and "chain smoking" is that unlike joints, which have a 1 cigarette break in between, she chains cigarettes. After she finishes her post-joint cigarette, she lights another joint AND another cigarette. She continues to chain cigarettes during her joint so that she smokes 3-4 cigarettes to every joint. During her period of chain smoking, she continuously smokes cigarettes. How she chains depends on her mood, location, and what brand she is smoking. If she is outside or where using a lighter is at all difficult, she will light one cigarette off the butt of another. If she has a chance to smoke Newports, she often chains using one cigarette to light another. When she is smoking her Marlboro Menthols, she usually uses a lighter to chain and will reach for her pack as soon as she crushes out a cigarette. When she is smoking in this way, she holds her cigarette in her right hand and joint in her left. she will alternate between the two, taking a drag off one and fully clearing her lungs of smoke before dragging off the other.
This my favorite method for her to smoke. She does this almost all the time when she has Newports. She will sometimes do this when she has Marlboros also, such as when she is drinking or really bored or upset. She doesn't really think about it too much and just smokes. when she pushes, her light up schedule is generally the same: smoking cigarettes continuously and joints almost so. Sometimes she will take a one cigarette break between joints, and sometimes she will chain joints as well.
The major difference here is that she does not always clear her lungs of smoke. Even with this method, she always clears her lungs of weed smoke before inhaling cigarette smoke and vice versa. However, she will often hot box her cigarette: taking her next drag while nose exhlaing her last. If she is not chaining joints as well, she will smoke her whole post-joint cigarette this way. During the time she is smoking both a cigarette and a joint in each hand, she will generally take about 3 drags off her cigarette to every one off her joint.
She has done some damage already. Back when she smoked Newports every day (she changed after a major price increase), she would sit and push whenver she wasn't at work. Doing that for a couple years took its toll on her. She has a frequent, wet cough. If she smokes a lot the day befoer, she will have some coughing fits. She occaisionally coughs some stuff up from her lungs. Usually its just mucus, but sometimes has brown flecks in it, or even some black. When she was really pushing with Newports every day she would cough up stuff more often. She says that she loves to inhale as deep as possible, but can't inhale as deeply as she used to when she was a teenager. Stairs or prolonged walking leave her winded. She will even get winded just sitting, especially towards he end of the day, especially if she has been smoking a lot. She often suffers from lung pain. Her room mate gave her a nebulizer machine that he is supposed to use for his asthma but doesn't and she uses it. She loves to smoke while on it as she says it opens her lungs up and lets her inhale deeper. She knows that is really bad but she doesn't care.
