Posted by Keith A couple of months later, I had gone from being a pack a day light/ultra light smoker to a 2 pack a day full flavor smoker. Fellow smokers noticed! At breaks, I would smoke 3 or 4 to their one. And - I caught grief. At least 4 fellow smokers took me to task for "smoking too much"! -- all of them were basically 1 ppd (or less) smokers who smoked light cigs. One young lady said something to the effect that "you need to get professional help. You've let your habit get out of control" (whatever that meant!!). Politely, I explained that I enjoyed smoking more than ever and had no desire to cut back. I don't think that explanation was well received. Anyway, since I now work out of my home, I don't have the pleasure (chuckle) of listening to non-smokers - and smokers - attempting to keep me on the "straight and narrow". Perhaps what I experienced was unique, but I did not appreciate fellow smokers warnings about the consequences of smoking. Seemed a bit hypocritical!! Keith - one who smokes without regret! Anyway, sorry to go on for so long. Frankly, I think even my fellow smokers thought I had gone

This kinda goes along with what Samantha and I were discussing in previous posts - being hassled about smoking by non-smokers. I don't know how many other smokers have experienced this, but I sometimes came "under fire" from fellow smokers! Going back about 5 yrs, I was a pack a day smoker who had switched to lights and ultra lights. In a misguided moment, I decided to give quitting a chance. For about three days, I was down to 3 cigs a day. On the third day, I went out to have a couple of beers after work with some friends. Dying for a good cig., I stopped off and bought a pack of full flavor Winstons (the cig. I had started smoking with). In a couple of hrs. I had smoked 10 or 12. The next morning, I had a terrible craving for a cig. No more ideas of quitting and no more smoking "watered down" lights and ultra lights! I resumed smoking full flav. cigs with a new-found passion and enjoyment.
