Posted by Keith On Sunday, I smoked three-quarters of a pack of Pall Malls - without any intervening cigarettes of another brand. I found the Pall Malls to be quite good - smooth, mild and very satisfying. The aroma was pleasing. I guess I was a bit afraid that the first deep drag was going to lead to coughing or gagging. It didn't. From the first drag, I took the smoke in deeply and held it in for a bit before releasing. Mellow is another way I would describe Pall Malls. After smoking three-quarters of a pack, I switched back to Dorals for a while. OK, here is why. After three-quarters of a pack of Pall Malls, I found that the roof of my mouth was feeling slightly "toasted" - as if the Pall Malls were drying out my mouth. Later, just before bed, I smoked two more Pall Malls. I did not think that the Pall Malls were "strong" - but I did note that I smoked far fewer cigarettes on Sunday than I normally do. On Monday I began with Camels and smoked 1/2 a pack without any intervening cigs of another type. Slightly sweet. The smell of an unlit Camel is better than the smell of an unlit Pall Mall - but -- the Camels left a slightly sweet taste in my mouth that lingered. As for actual smoking, Camels were satisfying and smooth - not rough. Camels also did not tend to "dry out" my mouth as did the Pall Malls. I thought the the Camel Rare filtered cigarettes that I tried a while back were better than the unfiltered Camels. Could be a different blend. As to both Pall Malls and Camels, I smoked most of them about as far down as one could without a "clip". I did not mind the "heat" at all. Overall, and despite a slightly "dry mouth", I enjoyed the Pall Malls better than the Camels. This morning, when I went out for my early trip to pick up the paper, I stopped at a convenience store and bought another pack of Pall Malls. They won't become my "regular brand" (I don't think), but there is something nice about smoking and not having anything (i.e. the filter) between yourself and the smoke. And, the Pall Malls are most satisfying in the mornings with a cup of coffee. I like the Pall Malls well enough to smoke at least 5 a day. Probably mornings when I need to satisfy those pent up overnight - delayed cravings. I have had two this morning and intend to light yet another Pall Mall in a moment. Many thanks Samantha, for the challenge. [Note, Samantha, I think you realize, somehow, that I need to be "challenged" every now and again to broaden my smoking horizons]. People who love to smoke should - at least on occasion- try a mix of different cigarettes instead of the same old brand day after day. Well, time for that next cup of coffee and the indispensable cigarette.

Big hug to Samantha who initiated this unfiltered taste test. The issue: Pall Malls vs. Camels.
