If they start out overly jealous, then ussually it only gets worse from there. Men try to mask jealousy at first, because they know it makes them appear weak. And they know that any sensible women will eventually grow tired of being verbally or physically assaulted for just trying to have a normal life. Eventually though the jealousy gets the better of certain men. If they have a women that will accept their behavior... then it just makes the jealously worse over time. Why? Because it works. Why change behavior that is working? Eventually some kill out of jealousy. Did they kill the women because they love her so much? Of course not. You don't kill what you genuinly love. Well neither do you control, isolate, or intimidate what you love. If he tells you he is doing that because he Loves you so much... that's complete BS. Now he might be actually lying to both himself and you. But that dosn't mean you that you should be any more fooled by it. You probably already knew the answer to your question when you asked it. Just do the best you can given what you know and how you feel.
Without having more info to go on, I can only really talk in generalities. First in situations such as yours, the jealous guy does not have your best interests in mind. Fears kills Love. If he's jealous then he is scared of losing you. And he will probably try to keep you at any cost... and I mean at any cost TO YOU. If he sees you as a prized possesion he will treat you like that... isolate you, possibly start to work on erroding your self-esteem so that you become totally emotionally dependant on him. That type of behavior is not done out of love. Love means you genuinly have the other persons best interests at heart. And staying in close contact with your really good friends is cleary the good and right thing for you to do... for anybody to do.
