As already mentioned I have used extremely light gear, a matched pair of salmon spinning rods converted for surfcasting by lengthening the butt. These rods had very small eyes and a heavy, tapered nylon shock leader would not exit the rod anywhere near as smoothly as a thin, but very strong braid.
The Veritas rod has large eyes and this would no longer be an issue, but it's not shock leaders I have asked about, it's the sinkers this rod is most comfortable with, hopefully 3 or 4 ounces.
Any other thoughts?
