To be honest I couldn't make out why they would wish to put a hook keep on a surf rod anyway. However, as it originated in Texas, we all know everything is large in Texas, perhaps the use big hooks.
I like the idea,Phill, but thought a 12mm eye-bolt drilled the the blank just above the reel with two spring washers would be stronger.
