Well I thought the best place for a early snapper hunt would be the morning change of light period - i have no faith in the evening winter change of light. I also thought the local reefs would be best targeted. Unlike the lemon hunt i will have to fish each spot for a week or more to get full use of the tides - which means long periods of no catch trips - but i've rigged up a trace that should cater for any moki in the area as well. If the sea is calm enough i have a berley ready to go. Baits... crab, prawns, mussel and pilchards. I will cocktail these baits most times. Off course when spawning gets closer i will concentrate on the beaches the snapper feed around - this is a stray hunt - out of all the horse catches i would say landing a rear winter snapper would be up their!
Hey James has that guy with a 10ft rod and kiddi bait pack left ya spot yet
