Worth a look, it was flat yesterday, I have been catching snapper and gurnard as well as kahawai there, the snapper have been up to 2kg. Swell and wind has picked up, but it will still be fishable.
Mahanga
There was 1.5m of swell there yesterday, it is a touch dirty as you would expect changeing from northerlys to sw. It was dropping away quite quick though, down to a meter now, and may drop more over night but im picking the weed will be ratshit. I have heard of two elephant fish caught there about 2 weeks ago on a set line, so it may be ok sat night, maybe not...
Snapper rock
8KG kingfish caught there a hand full of days ago. I have been catching snapper there to the right, but no gurnard. There is also huge work ups of kahawai. It is currently cleanish, slightly off color and easily fishable. There has been a huge increase to trevally here, some days you can catch ten between a kilo and 2.5kilo when they are there. Most of them have been closer to the lighter weight. Plenty of moki comming in on the nets around the bay too. Most around 2.5kg and some close to 5kg, worth a crack on a short cast.
Saturday day things will clear up, sunday morning looks great. Best a luck
I was out on the IRB with Aaron a few days ago, not very far out, maybe 500m because the southerly was so strong. We caught plenty of fish, snapper to 4kg, big gurnard, lots a trevs............ They honestly were not far out, so I would say thats your best shot at a snapper. No spinys in there at the moment.

It gives you a bit of a heads up as to what it like up here. As for the weather, we have has a fair amount of it, rained most of today, not to hard though.
The big snapper are about, but most have passed through, at this time you usually get the bigger fish of the big ones if that makes sense. It has been such rat shit weather its just unreal. I live here and I have hardly been able to wet a bloody line on this side, bit of a bugger, roll on spring time westers.

Any snaps off the rods on the beach at Mahanga ?, or usual boats and tikis i guess??. Good swell smoking both sides with shifty winds wouldnt think it would be pleasant anywhere this weekend. Could see swell breaking on Pania reef at high tide this morning. Not inviting.
