New Clip down Breakout sinkers

Here is alittle unsolicited advert for the guys at Tackle Tactics. Yesterday I started using their new breakout sinkers that have a built in clip to hold the bait on attached to the stem. Have to say that apart from one bait that tied itself on with bait elastic I had a complete success with baits releasing every cast. The sinkers are used with a pulley rig making the easiest system going. They can also be used with other rigs of course. Phill can follow this up with a description and a pic of one of these sinkers. After all while he may sell some more sinkers his sales of impact shields and particularly imp clips will suffer. Once you are on to these you may never go back. Watch for Phills follow up. Well worth a try. You will get an extra 5 to 10m with a bait attached as a free bonus.

speaking of pulley rigs ,the swivel i use on my pulley rig eventually wears my trace line and the trace line snaps..if ya know what i mean.is there an alternate to the normal swival i can use to prevent this,panser said there was something but i forget

The line shouldn't be going through a swivel.

The "trace" as in the bit with the hook on it, doesn't go through a swivel on a pulley rig. The 'backbone' of the pulley rig (often made from trace material) does. the trace itself just clips on to one end of the pulley rig backbone. If your line is getting cut by the swivel in the middle of the pulley rig, you have several options. Heavier line Swivels with thicker material in the eyes. There is a breakaway swivel made for pulley rigs. But rig bodys wear out with the pressure eventually Disclaimer .Hamills staff member.

I inserted and glued a short section of lumo tube iside the swivel that the backbone goes through Stops the line getting kinked when casting also

I use Black Magic rolling swivels with 80lb backbone. I've never had one break, but I usually only use them for one or 2 sessions then reuse the components and discard the line.

I used to see in double but fine now??????? I use 80lb backbone and either 50 or 80lb fluorocarbon traceline. My backbone runs through the eye of a Genie Link Clip which clips to the swivel on the end of my shockleader.

Breakaway Sinker with Bait Clip As Gary says, these really do work well and so simple. Best used with rigs that don't already have other types of bait clips already on them.

I use the genie link clips too which my backbone goes through, I still find after a good fishing session I have a backbone that resembles a spiral staircase... but I usually make new rigs after each outing anyway These sinkers look good though, will definitely be trying some out.

Been there done that Gary, make my own. Why way back there was a thread, telling how do it using an Imp. Perfect release everytime. And bait is held even lower down, giving even more velocity and distance. Havent looked back since. Me ole mates kinda look at me and wonder how come Trev gets so far, with so little effort. cheers karen,yeah i have a new trace every time i go out,use 50lb backbone fluro carbon,it rearly happens just good to be safe if that big snap gets on and it decides to break id be gutted

Hi Jed, 50lb is too light for a backbone.. Backbones go through quite a bit of punishment. What size swivel are you using btw?
