As I recall it begins with "If you cant catch a snapper by cracking a few pipi's over the mouth of a stream your just not trying?" I think tines had changed even when the reprint came out and I brought it. (Even that was years ago). But yes a bit of a classic from the late John Wilson AKA Bill Hohepa.Kinda set for the 60s and early 70s when fish were actually plentiful though. Might even still have it lol. Somewhere

Probably one of his most memorable writings on sportfishing was in the 70's as we started getting into LBG fishing. His advice was to cast a calfs head from the rocks into deep water! He was a good journalist and certainly inspired many with his fishing writings.

Did he also write "How to catch fish and where"?
Almost none of my local spots which he summaries fishes true to his writings. One spot is Station Creek, now its more commonly called Seaview and I have fished it a lot.
"Usually a Productive spot for Snapper and Moki"
I have never seen a Snapper or Moki caught there, most people catch dogfish, Red cod, Kahawai, Skate, School Shark and Sevengillers. I mainly catch Rig because I fish predominately fish crabs.
I hear of the occasional Snapper being caught there, and caught Moki further down the beach but sad how things have changed in just the last 30 years or so...
