The 6-10ft are offshore forecasts. When buoyweather is calling 6-10 it is usually 4' to to 6ft faces, and now and then "rogues" with 8ft faces. As long as the wind is not dead onshore, and some more southerly or more northerly flow is present, lines will be more prevalent, it should be fun here. But you also get currents and drift. It seems when winds are directly perpendicular to the shoreline lines do not form. The peak will break and thats about it, very little shoulder that weak, this type of wave usually offers only about one good thwack, a very short ride.
Last year, when Humberto (i think), came off florida's coast, buoyweather jumped up to 18-21', if i remember correctly.
It was easily 6-8ft in MB, and extremely cold that morning, brrrrrr. but yeah, its just best to wait until thurs. for forecast to become more firm. granted there will be something to ride all week and weekend, now how clean and how much push... just have to wait and see. if you can, head to down to folly north to wilm., and place thats a point, ie. cape fear, will have wave energy refract and bend into a smaller area, providing a more powerful wave.
