Since that was my duty station, I can tell you that the diesel was started and ran for about 10 min. weekly. In case power was lost, it would start automatically and it would be a race to get to it because the seawater valve would have to be opened manually which in turn cooled the fresh water cooling. Some time during GQ it would be started to simulate power loss. It was also my GQ station
