My Daughter (was 3 or 4) used to ride on those saddles, saying giddy-yap horsie. No, Phil Farmer was an fireman FN who just liked to
hang around with MM's I think. Nice guy. Cannot think of the guy that chewed tobacco and cut up cigars unless it was Berry (the fireplug);
seemed to remember him carrying a cup around with him all the time.
I never played craps (just after payday), but I remember a big Black Cook (nickname was 'Heavy Duty') that came down in our sleeping
quarters and won a lot of money time after time. I don't recall, but it's funny about the sea scout and getting so seasick for so long.
Any of you guys remember stopping in Cobb, Ireland? I took a train or bus down to the Blarney Castle and leaned out the open window
(hanging on for dear life) and kissed the 'Blarney Stone'. It was said to us that the Norris was the 1st US Warship since WWII to land
at Cobb and I recall lots of girls taking buses or trains into town for a big dance hall they had set up for us. Never bought any gifts or
mementos in Cobb though and should have.
