Posted by Rick Moore I have been told by a union official that the recent dues increase was approved with under 500 member votes provincially out of a possible 4500 to 5000 members. Now, I am sure this was done legally, with all the "i"'s dotted and "t"'s crossed, but where does this fit in morally and ethically with the principles of unionism? Was this "one provincal local" nothing more than a cash grab for the national and international offices of the UFCW? Doesn't seem to democratic to me. .....and $6.50 a week from the temps, regardless of number of hours worked in a week.....is nothing short of theft.....or is that "breach of trust"?.....maybe this is where 12r24 use the old "condonation" arguement?

Any chance of a discussion about the recent 12r24 dues increase?
