Hi Ainslie,
The hydraulic arm is there only to assist in lowering and raising the keys. Be carefull not to screw the arms that hold the keyboard in place too tight. It's possible that you might be putting to much pressure on the ends of the keyboard thus changing the action. You only need to tighten the arms enough to hold the keys in place.
