Mandriva 2009 is slated for public release on October 9th. I got the release early because I forgot that I signed up as an "early seeder" some months ago when 2008 was being worked on! Whoo hoo! So, like Ubuntu, Mandriva will now let you know when a stable release version is ready and will ask you if you want to upgrade to it without having to a fresh install, or burn the .iso and upgrade through the DVD/CD! Very nice improvement to Mandriva!
