There are a lot of articles out all of a sudden on Microsoft. Lots of wishful thinking by antiMicrosoft folks and Microsoft supporters too, but some of it raises interesting points. As in this article which says XP can do everything ncessary and there was NO NEED for Vista, and NO NEED now for Win 7. In fact, the Windows OS, according to this author, is at the end of its development lifetime unless some major changes occur in the interfaces, like voice input. Otherwise (here I'm adding in my own thinking), maybe the folks, and particularly businesses, do not NEED to improve beyond WinXP? And, since Microsoft probably can't survive on simply replacing worn-out copies of XP (:^>), Microsoft's only option is to FORCE people to upgrade by chocking off XP in spite of customer preferences; this might not sit too well in the long run with professional IT types and business bean counters. It's sorta "unfair" and will grate on them after a while. Bean counters in particular don't like unnecessary expenses.
I was wondering what others think about this, since I'm long since gone from the Windows world and don't have any feel at all for what the article says: Is it true that Vista or Win 7 actually bring no real improvements beyond eye candy that would be worth paying for? Assuming they could find support, would most folks, especially business folks, be just as well off sticking with Win XP? Is the upgrade to Win 7 actually a necessity?
If Win 7 is not really a necesity, and is just something generated by Microsoft to keep the profits rolling in, I'm wondering how long the folks will go along with Microsoft!
A little speculation wouldn't hurt, no?
