Mandriva's unbiased review of Mandriva 2009.1. :^)
I like the choices for desktops: KDE, Xfce, Lxde. I also like including the OLPC desktop to make it available to more of the folks, and the faster boot times (which everybody and his pet duck are getting into trying to imitate the netbooks). The Security Center looks pretty complicated for most users... I'd have to wonder how effective it will actually be. The new themes, and changing themes to match the time of day don't impress me AT ALL. I'm a carmudgeon about that: Eye candy turns me off... I start thinking how much programmer time was burned up generating that stuff, and how much system resource it uses, and I wish that time/resource had gone into making the OS more friendly for noobs. That's my soapbox: Linux needs to be a LOT more user-friendly.
