Right now I'm running Opera 10.00 internal side by side with Firefox 3.5b4. They are running together in a Mepis 8 guest in Virtualbox on Antix-M8 on my tower machine.
Opera seems to be faster! I didn't expect that.
I had tried an earlier alpha of Opera 10 and didn't like it; it was jerky, pages rendered funny, and it crashed a lot. It was just mostly boogered. Now it's smooooth, pages render just fine, and no crashes yet in about 2 hours operating. Firefox seems equally smooth and renders well, but is noticeably slower on sites like Slashdot. Slashdot has some kind of built-in delay; in Opera the wait part is less but, once the page begins to render, they are pretty much equal.
And there's no observable difference in download speeds between Opera in the guest as opposed to Opera on the naked host; either way, DL is averaging about 185 Mb/s (which is soooo much nicer than 2 weeks ago when my DL speed averaged 53 Mb/s). And I'm only allowing the Mepis guest to have 512 MB RAM.
