Two new (to me) programs I'm trying out:
1) Zim, a desktop wiki note taker very much like Tomboy. It has three big advantages over Tomboy that I've discovered so far: It doesn't crash on searches; it isn't based on mono; and it allows me to make browser-style web links, with titles, instead of requiring the entire http link with no title. Also, it opens all pages as tabs in the original window instead of opening a new window for every page. The site shows it available in debian unstable, but it's also available in debian testing.
2) Netsurf, a very simple browser still in development. It's pretty fast but it lacks some features (bookmarks, for one, but it has a good global history) and won't render some pages properly. But it has an excellent adblocker built-in; so far nothing has got past it. It doesn't have cookie control.
