That was a loooooong upgrade!! I started last night about 9 pm and finished an hour ago. It ran while I was sleeping and was still running when I got up. Sabayon is slow for package management, but they say it's very fast in operation. I'll have to see.
Now the VBox guest additions are installed and I can get about configuring the thing. I've already downloaded Opera 10:00. The GUI pkg mgr doesn't seem to have a way of actually downloading packages :^>; so I look up the package and then use the CLI to get/install it. I'm sure it's my failing... this is a DIFFERENT system and I need to figure out how it works. The CLI commands are similar to apt-get or aptitude.
It boots slowly, a little over 2 minutes to login, and 30 secs to desktop.
Jack, have you ever tried Sabayon (or Gentoo)?
