That Windows 7 will cease from carrying drivers for everything known up til then. You install, and drivers are downloaded from Microsoft on the fly as needed. That's a pretty ingenious change because, if a serial number doesn't match with what's available in the Microsoft data base ........ you just don't get to install Windows 7 period.

Anyway, this will keep the size of the installation down considerably.

I've always wondered at the reason for loading in drivers that aren't needed. Didn't the old 98 use to ask for your installation CD every time you added new hardware? Well now it will be a quick trip to Microsoft to find the drivers THERE!
