My thumb drive is a 2 GB Kingston DataTraveler which I bought a year ago at WalMart, on sale for $4.99. 2 Gigs holds a pretty good amount of data! An usb HD isn't worth it to me, but it could be very useful for a person who wanted to install an entire operating system and make it totally portable, or who had massive quantities of music/videos/etc.
I've also thought about converting my old 1989 Dell laptop which stil runs Windows 95 "C" into a file server on the network... but have never got a round tuit. It's still easier just transferring stuff back and forth between the machines.
I wonder whether Gloria is using her CD system as an archive or for a different purpose?
