Well, I kept messing with it using both testing and stable repositories trying to make it work. So far, I've borked DreamLinux and Mepis :^>. I've reinstalled both and will stick to testing without stable. I also have put Antix on testing only (before I bork it too). You were right and even my legendary stubbornness couldn't make you wrong!!
