Well, I know it CAN be done safely. But I like the limits put on the user accounts to keep me from doing something incredibly stupid and borking a perfectly good system
. Otherwise, I think I'd be looking back over my shoulder all the time trying to keep from messing up. Yes, I can mess up as a user, but it's harder.
I do understand in windows everybody runs as root - or at least that used to be true. It's one of the things I liked about Linux that I had a more limited user account.
But I don't use distros (like Foresight) which actively prevent me from logging in as root. That's nothing but "computer correctness".
