OH, I agree that it's yours and you can use your computer as you prefer. I'm not criticizing you, just explaining my own viewpoint. And I don't even consider using Foresight Linux because of their stance on use of Root.
But I must admit I don't actually USE a root login very often; more likely I'll use 'kdesu (application)', with application most usually being Konqueror, Kwrite, or Konsole. With Konqueror and Kwrite I can do nearly anything I need to do, and I can do it more quickly and conveniently than the command line. However, I want to be ABLE to use root when ~ I ~ choose, not when someone else chooses for me. My not using root, then, is voluntary - not forced... an important point for me!
And, as Vince points out, the anti-rooters do have a point: People who use root irresponsibly harm other people probably more than they harm themselves. In a way, it's a little like forcing people to use child-proof caps on medicine bottles so the kids don't get hurt. Windows users are children anyway, no?
