Those catalogue companies buy the old outdated computers in bulk. Most of which have been factory refurbished, and then resell them. I get a catalogue from Heartland America that does the same thing. Their catalogue contains desktop PCs as well as laptops at very cheap prices that sound very good, but when you look at the specs, you find that these machines are seriously underpowered/underspec by today's standards and the only thing I could really see them being useful for is sernding/receiving email and surfing the internet.
