Maybe I remembered wrong. I remembered that you complained a while back that your computer ran really slowly, and you were asking what to do.
You should have a small square wall jack you plug into to reach the phone line and internet. The other end of that cord should plug into a box called a modem which decodes the blips and bleeps on the phone line into something the computer can read and make into emails or browser pages. This box can send the emails/browser pages/etc directly to your computer or it can send them to another box called a router. Then the router sends it on to your computer(s) either over a cable or via wifi.
