Gloria, it is not uncommon for hard drives to die. Even brand spanking new ones can die days or even minutes after installation. A couple of years ago, my mother bought a brand new computer and the hard drive died two days later. Since the computer was under warranty, a tech was sent out and replaced the hard drive at no charge.
