My cable connection gives me 17mbits download and .45mbits upload.
DSL in our area give 17mbits down and 8.5 mbits up ...so DSL is a better deal overall.
I would switch to DSL except for the fact that I'm still getting analog TV signal from cable.
As for Gloria hitting the ceiling faster with more computers connected? Not really, unless she or her partner are using Skype a lot or downloading torrents or movies. Internet browsing takes very little bandwidth because pages are loaded in a second or so and the connection breaks. It's not as if one needs a live connection to view a page or to work on that page.
