Wireless is only really neat if you want to be able to carry your computer around to different places without dragging a long ethernet cord behind you :^), or if you want one computer here and another one at the other end of the house, and there's no easy way to run a cord to the remote machine.
Me, I occasionally take my computer out into the yard and sit under a tree with the dogs and surf for a while, or I relocate to the living room or the screened porch. I've never noticed any difference in speed between wired and wireless unless I'm pretty far away from the router.
And I'm out in the country, with my nearest neighbor about 3/4 mile away, and the house is 3/10 mile from the road, so I don't worry overmuch about security from people tapping in to my network. It COULD happen if somebody brought out a good beam-type antenna and camped themselves up in the woods fairly near the house, but anyone willing to go to that much trouble is welcome to whatever they find on my computer :^*.
You, though, have close neighbors, so if you use wireless, you do need security. If you use wires, you're very much safer and don't need security unless you're being stalked by the CIA or KGB.
