It goes a wee bit deeper than that too.
While I don't imagine this would be too likely, it's still a possible scenario.
Someone doesn't like you for some reason and wishes to pull a passive/aggressive attack on you. He's a low life who likes kiddy porn and knows where to get it (because he himself DOES, using the Onion proxy server service).
He parks himself close to your place at night and downloads a pile of porn. Then he phones the authorities from a payphone and reports that he knows YOU are downloading kiddie porn.
They do a check on your IP and sure 'nuff, they find that you have downloaded a pile of porn.
Now they have enough proof to come and seize your computers on a search warrant. Ultimately, you will likely come out cleared but ..... in the meantime, you've had to go through hell to prove your innocence.
Whoever happens to ride on your router's wireless is totally untraceable unless the logs of your router still have info available on them showing the rider's MAC number. Whatever passes through your modem is deemed to be YOUR traffic and you are held responsible for it.
