They want to make it all the way this year and will sacrifice a year of middle school ball for that once in a lifetime experience. There is always 8th grade. Oh and one of the O/L's is actually in the 6th grade so he too has no MS ball. I am a personal friend with a local public MS coach and attend most all their games, they aren’t that much bigger and many have never played organized football before. One of their biggest players plays on my son’s select basketball team and he's not that much bigger but he is slower. Then again it’s not the size of the dog in the fight...you know the rest. Knowing this team like I do I have no doubt they would be successful without those 4 or 5 O/L's...BELIEVE ME. #4 for example is NOT an O/L...he alone could run through any defense I've seen yet at this level. Folks can try to take away whatever they want from this team, their illegal, they doctor birth certs, they interrupt warm-ups, they intimidate the other team by running circles around them, their chain gang is rude, their concession is rude, and now the O/L argument...the hate list goes on & on. But the bottom line is all these boys are eligible to play, their playing where they WANT to play with one single goal, they work hard, play hard and will remember this experience for the rest of their lives. When the season is over, they can play some hoops and then get ready to crack some heads in the 8th grade. Although your points may be valid for some they are a drastic over generalization for most...especially this team. One final thought, if you hear any chest thumping it is because we are very proud of our team as a whole. Last I checked there was nothing wrong with being proud in what your children accomplish, whatever it may be. Good luck with your team this season. GO EA!!! "Practice in Texas to Play in Florida"
First of all there are only 4 maybe 5 O/L's on this team (coach may correct me if I am wrong), my son being one of them. The idea that every good 7th grader would play middle school ball is very narrow minded. My son is quite athletic and I have no doubt he would hold his own playing middle school ball, we have already been approached by middle school coaches asking if he might go to their school. His school doesn't have middle school ball so Pop Warner is our only choice at this time.
