As promised, here are the long-awaited (well not really) photos of my visit to Pullen Park, in Raleigh, NC last weekend. Here the palms are a bit more widely distributed than at nearby Jaycee Park but they are just as impressive.
First, the obligatory Needle Palm clump (out in the open, happy and healthy, just daring anyone to try to stuff a bag of McDonald's trash under it's foliage, with it's "secret" 6-inch needles - yeeeouch!):
The next palm I saw were several large Trachycarpus fortunei:
And just for Kim K., I have included a close-up of those Yucca aloifolias:
I also stumbled on these - could they be Chinese Fan Palms (Livingstonia)? I wasn't aware they would be hardy here but the foliage, with shaggy leaf tips, make them look like Livingstonias to my un-edumakaded eyes. Can someone help me on these?
Lastly, what trip to North Carolina would be complete without seeing Andy Griffith and Opie! (Aunt Bea would have been there too but she was in the shop getting a little touch-up paint!).

Posting Photos
In order to post photos, you must first upload the photos onto the internet. You need to either have your own web space to do this, or get a free subscription to Photobucket.com or Webshots.com or a photo service like that, or Wunderground.com weather site, and now Google.com has this also through gmail accounts. So upload the photo to the internet, then go to it and right or left click on it (ctrl + click on a Mac) to open it in a new window. Copy the address of where the photo is located on the internet, and paste it into the "Optional Image URL" box on your post before you post it. You may use the "preview" key to see if the photo is loaded and the address copied correctly. You can post multiple messages by typing img src="photoaddresshere" you must surround this by "<" and ">" Post any questions on how to put photos up on the forum and we will help you.
