I did not mean to infer that the product is useless, if that was your understanding. I think it can be very helpful if you have a plant that needs particular help in a sunny/windy winter location. It might be da bomb for some broadleaf evergreens that are no hardier than 6b/7a (which includes a LOT of species). And, it may be helpful with palms (which are also, technically, broadleaf evergreens). I just haven't tried it on palms, yet.
I have two Aucubas planted against a north-facing brick wall of my house. In winter, they get no direct sun at all (which is a good thing). But in summer, the sun is on them most of the day. As the sun returns to them in the coming weeks, I will toy with the idea of using a little Wilt-Pruf on them (...unless someone thinks that would be a mistake). One of the Aucubas (an all-green beauty bought at Triple Oaks) is sited on an unusual "super dry" patch of soil. In the summer, I can water it every single day. By the next morning, the soil is dry as a bone! ...Which makes everday watering a necessity if I want a plant to grow there. Just why the soil is extra dry there, I do not know. But again, in such a dry soil situation, using Wilt-Pruf could be very beneficial.
