With all this talk about hummingbirds I decided to relate my harrowing experience for the benefit of everyone....
Coming home late one night I was pleasantly surprised to see a hummingbird had decided to pay me a visit! I had never seen a hummingbird in person before so I quickly yet stealthily made my way towards it. I noticed he was pleasantly distracted with my moms flowers... perfect. I came towards him at an angle, stealthily, quietly, I didnt want to ruin my first close up in person hummingbird encounter! I was there within observation striking distance, within perfect distance for optimal viewing.... a few more inches ... just a bit closer....

WHAT THE FREAK IS THAT!!!! Thats not a hummingbird! As if sensing my presence the hummingbird.. no... the alien from another dimension that just transformed into this sick mimick of one of God's most illustrious creatures turned and buzzed straight at me! I dove for cover not knowing what it might be capable of... what the heck is this thing I yelled. Shocked and confused I dashed into the house... no one will believe this, I thought I better google this action first! To my surprise I was not the first to be fooled by this over worldly creature. Many people around the country have been taken victim by THE HUMMINGBIRD MOTH... this freaky night time imposter makes a living deceiving people wherever it goes... one second you think your being blessed with a visit from the heavenly hummingbird and BAM!! Hummingbird Moth! Be careful everyone, do not be fooled, this fake can be quite convincing.. its just about the same size and body structure as your typical hummingbird with rapidly beating wings and the ability to hover but beware once you get close to this joker all bets are off! If its night time and your just not sure... Be smart, stay away! Here is a photo so next time you think your in for a nice hummingbird encounter your not taken by surprise like me.
Here he is... viewer discretion is advised:
