Well October 2009 is in the books and from the point of view of someone that favors warm winters mainly because I love growing hardy palms and zone pushing plants I was pleased with this month. I know looking at fall can't predict what kind of winter we will have but nonetheless since 2008 was such a cold winter compared to the last couple of years I cant help but compare oct 09 to oct 08 and see if just maybe we can hope that we came out ahead and will continue to going into winter so here is are a few data points comparing oct o8 to oct 09
2008 2009
Max
Max 81f 79f
Mean 69f 68f
Min 59f 62f
Avg
Max 65f 63f

Min 43f 45f
Min
Max 46f 45f
Mean 42f 42f
Min 28f 34f
It seems we had higher high temps in oct 08 but we had low lowers in that year as well. This data is for Mount. Holly weather station so Im sure we will all individually have had different readings but it should still generally be the same. Lets hope the trend of higher lows continues for the rest of 09 and into 2010.
