- Did we move to the pacific northwest?

Another rainy day? A ten day forecast that isnt getting above 84f? Did we all pick up and move to Tacoma and I did'nt know it. I started a convo on another board about how I love summer heat and so far Im being let down horribly June 2008 avg high was 85 and July's was 88. I know we are only half way through June but are avg is only a paltry 75F lol. Oh well hopefully it warms up soon, I hope we didnt use all our 90's up in April! - great weather for peas, lettuce and other spring crops !

Yes Mom Keifer, things are good for certain crops now, but we do need the heat to get the corn and maters going, I too am wishing for warmer days. - Re: Did we move to the pacific northwest?

This past week working outside felt pretty hot in the 80s and humid but definately some cool nights and days. I think we need some heat and sun but some nice cooler mild weather is welcome too! - Re: Did we move to the pacific northwest?

This weather has been just terrible and makes me question why I live here sometimes. ITS MID JUNE! It should be at least in the mid 80's, and you know, maybe at least an hour or two of sunlight per day...but that may be asking too much! It's rediculous and if this summer doesnt shape up to be "summer", I'm going to leave! - Re: Did we move to the pacific northwest?

This is how I moved from NJ..
It was easier to move to FL than to bring palms to NJ

85+ degree weather in Southern NJ during the summer is such an integral part of our culture. I'm sure everyone can easily reminisce back to those dog days of summer growing up in south Jersey or Philadelphia, trudging endlessly through what seemed like the Sahara desert to reach the Atlantic oasis in Wildwood, slipping away to your favorite pond to fish for bullheads and blue gills, camping and hiking through the pine barrens and getting lost on the endless sand road mazes, and enjoying a dog on a warm summer night during a phillies game........ im sorry but I find it very hard to enjoy these activities the way they are supposed to be in a state of perpetual spring. 73F in mid-june just aint cutting it. Its usually not unusual for the temp not to drop below 73F at night on a warm day in Philly's heat trapped streets. Washington and Oregon can keep there forever spring giv me my south jersey summer! - Really???

I work outside every day and I would say that this spring and early summer have been gorgeous. Alot of rain which is a very good thing, but breaks between the rain with sunshine. This is gorgeous and typical weather in NJ for late spring and early summer. - Re: Really???

According to Accuweather, the average high in my area (nearest station is Trenton) just touched 80 three days ago. It's now 81. We'll probably be wishing for this in August! well to each his own I don't remember it being this cool this late in the season. And id be really surprised if we got any where near the gorgeous 85f avg we had last year and in August the only thing ill regret is that when August ends its all down hill from there. - Re: Really???

It is a wonderful spring, the poppies are out and staying out, peas are ripening each day instead of shriveling up in the premature heat we have some years. Weather like this is why the plants grow so well in England, Poland and the west coast.
Enjoy and savor each and every season and be thankful it is not a hot hell hole like in Florida. My friends and relatives who move there stay in the A C after 10 am and can't even grow nice plants in their gardens except in winter.
The changing seasons are glorious. I love each day with all the diversity that south Jersey has to offer. we picked our first ripe salad tomato today1 Also picked a basket of swiss chard, a bowl of peas, some raspberries, dill and lettuce. everything is on schedule ,but the decent temps are allowing the spring crops to last a little longer.

I was in Atlantic City between June 1 and June 3
and I went swimming in the ocean !
It was very refreshing in the water (if not to say cold) but the air temps were rather hot - Re: A BEAUTIFUL SPRING LIKE SPRING!

It might be enjoyable if the sun actually makes an appearance once and a while though. Without sun, tomatoes and all the other things surely wont produce like they would with sun. Plus all of these clouds are just depressing! - Red Tomatoes here already

My dad harvested a big fat red tomato 2 days ago. I don't have any yet but many flowers so far. I just can't keep up with all the weeds since its been such a great growing season so far for everything especially weeds. My tomatoes are under black plastic though so no weeds there!
