Hi All,
Just wanted to warn you all to be aware of a phone scam going on where someone claiming to be from BT Credit Control rings up to say your account is in arrears by £12 and they will cut your phone line off unless you pay over the phone to clear the outstanding amount.
I nearly fell for it but even when I said that we pay by Direct Debit how could we be in arrears she calmly said that the Direct Debit had been cancelled because they had to send out new terms and conditions last month and we didn't sign and return them. She knew of two numbers we had at our premises but not all of them
As with all things BT this wound me up and I immediately became stroppy asking for copy invoices/statements and when she said that the account was frozen and she couldn't fax/email anything alarm bells rang and then she just hung up.
So just a reminder to be aware....they nearly got me this time!
Sean
