Tom, surely you are, in your assessment, making the argument for KEEPING IT AS IT IS. That is cars are safer not only because they are made better but because they have to be tested every year!Faults are picked up and rectified before they cause an issue. Yes, we dont see the rust buckets of yesteryear, i,ve been testing only 30 years!, but i see enough poorly maintained cars, whose owners only ever get any maintenace done BECAUSE OF THE CURRENT YEARLY TEST, reduce that to 2 years and guess what they will do....i'm all for progress and moving forward but sometimes in life we need to just realise we got it right as it is, its not perfect, but it works well enought,as they say If it aint broke Why fix it?
