I think customers are cutting back and pushing general maintenance to the limit
I had a VW Polo 53 in today for a service, he is a regular and always came back every year. Its two years since he came in, he said he is trying to cut down on his mileage so will now have it serviced every 24 months
A rough running Citroen Xsara the other day, oil was very low, I asked her when it was last serviced, but she could not remember, makes our job twice as hard (could I fix it without doing a service)
Citroen Picaso in tomorrow that's smoking in traffic, I asked when it was last serviced, he said it was a long time ago. I gave him a quote for a timing belt 6 months ago as he said it was long overdue, but he decided he could not afford it, hope it does not go bang on me tomorrow
Owning a car is now getting more expensive, full service with maybe discs and pads or a timing belt can expect a bill around £500.00
That why we need a 12 monthly MOT as I am sure there are a lot of neglected vehicles out there
