As I understand it the warranty liability is with the party that supplied the goods or services. You are liable to your customer, the dealer is liable to you. Have had this discussion with more than one factor. They say the manufacturer is delaying, avoiding, disputing etc. I say I don't care, not my problem. Always worked so far. How much it has to do with spend versus law, I don't know.
If I was confident the part was faulty, I would replace it myself and submit warranty claim to supplier. I think the key is to document thoroughly what is wrong and how it was proven. Also keep evidence in case of dispute.
I think if you make it clear that you are confident and will not be fobbed off things will usually be resolved.
