Can anybody see a reason why there is still a 3 year concession for new cars on MOT's?
Surely this is an outdated rule from the 60's when the average mileage was probably 3-5k.
We know some rep's cars that cover 60 - 80,000 miles per year. That's potentially nearly a quarter of a million miles before an MOT. During that time the car may have had several accident repairs.
If the cars had to be MOT'd from the first year then the MOT stations would also gain some extra valuable revenue from the ever increasing number of new vehicles on the road. Surely people with new cars can afford the £39.50 to make sure their car is safe.
