Many thanks for your replies gents, the thing that had the testing station I use going was the recent V.I inspection at the other MOT test station, I am sure that whenever the inspectors are in your area and things come up you soon know about it through the jungle telegraph ! .The garage that I use for all my MOT's use a 'Premier' gas analyser , perhaps it has a programming error in that I was in there today and exactly the same thing happened,ie a K reg non cat, their machine matched it on the database and this one went through !, even though the car was known never to have had a cat fitted. I understand the comments about the 'MOT Testers Manual' but although I have never been an MOT tester I understand that it can be somewhat 'grey' in a lot of areas ! , still again, thanks for your replies I will show them to my test station for their imformation Tony Bickers
