any government controlled or regulated body that I have had dealings with have never really got to grips with the bad guys.
There are always ways of getting good ratings whilst giving poor service. Look at NHS or council rate increases.
As for independant organisations I withdrew my subscription to RMI because at £400 per year I could get better value for money by increasing my Bosch technical info or buy the autodata cd. All things that earn me money.
I thought the RMI would give me some credibility in the market place but recomendation and reputation do much more. I was also disapointed when in each monthly magazine there were lists of new members but no mention of any struck off for poor service.
Infact when most organisations in this country are run by shareholders how can you start striking out any one that pays.
The customers that I see asking for quotes and going from garage to garage will always shop on price. They don't care about trade organisations or even if your doing it your backyard and are on the dole. But given the chance to get on a consumer program and moan about some hardship they are cuing up.
