Hi, I have had a few Ford Ka's in for servicing, and the plugs snapped of at the hex head when trying to undo them. These were Motorcraft plugs. They seem to corrode quite quickly, and the thickness of metal left is just not strong enough to slacken them before shearing. The ones i have had, I could lift out the ceramic complete. To remove the threaded base, I hammer in a torx bit. Seems a bit extreme, but if you drive in the largest torx bit you can, then you should manage to undo the plug thread no problem. I never replace these with motorcraft plugs. Always use NGK. I have used this method about 5 times. Usually three out of the four plugs shear when trying to undo. Saves the expense of removing the cylinder head. Regards, Gordon
