Plus the MOT Special Notice we all got a few days later. I suppose no one with any sense would have anything to do with TV production companies. Tom W

Re: BBC1 rouge traders
Posted by Tony Bickers on October 13, 2006, 7:24 pm, in reply to "Re: BBC1 rouge traders" Trading standards can hit each and every one of us today , tomorrow or whenever, does that stop customers coming through your door?, no , because they trust us one and all,I have never advertised my services, all my customers come from personal reccomendation, i would never place an ad. in yellow pages because I do not know what I would reap, deal with those that you have a link to and you cannot go wrong, I count the majority of my customers as personal friends, sometimes problems occur but I still keep those customers , it is all about communication, keep them onside and you do not lose! Regarding the above, yes, there are rogue traders about as there is in every trade, you still cannot stop people going to them if they think they will save a buck, that is human nature, where we win is when we pick up the pieces of their experience, give them an accurate costing, fix their vehicle and in most cases have a customer for life ! Off thread slightly that is why I disagree with several threads on the site recently about "Quality schemes", these mean nothing to the average punter and never will, all they want is a service they can trust , rely on and be honest with them, I could have a hundred signs on my workshop , what would it mean to Joe Public, Nothing ! My thoughts waiting to be shot down Tony

Posted by Steve Nicholas on October 13, 2006, 10:47 pm, in reply to "Re: BBC1 rouge traders" Explain this though: My wife's cousin (an accountant - actually, that probably says it all!) will always ask me for a price on a job and then shop around. What is it they say about accountants - they know the price of everything and the value of nothing! Regards, Steve

Posted by Shaun Dale on October 30, 2006, 11:44 am, in reply to "Re: BBC1 rouge traders" I have a lot less trouble now that I do practically no mobile work. It's difficult not to give the customer their car back when you've repaired it in their drive! Shaun
