Re: Crock of quality workmanship :)
Posted by Steve Norman on December 7, 2006, 9:29 am, in reply to "Re: Crock of shite" A the moment I have lots of Audi & VW customers who want their car looked after, don't want 30000 mile service intervals, want a safe & reliable car which might last longer than 3 years before the small ends hit out. Let all the cheapskates take their car to these outlets & let them sue them when a 'service' item isn't even looked at & fails. I bet in court a laymans term for 'service' means anything the judge decides. I am quite happen to work for people who want their car looked after. Regards

Are dealers any better?
Posted by Peter Warman on December 7, 2006, 7:55 pm, in reply to "Re: Crock of quality workmanship :)" A few weeks ago a friend of my wife took her 4 year old Peugeot 206 1.1 into the main dealer for annual service and MOT, they charged her £99:00 all in Last week it started pulling back, so i advised he to take it back. They did a diagnostic check and changed spark plugs and relieved her of another £120:00. She complained that it had just been serviced. Their reply was that as it was 4 years old it should of had a 4th year or 40,000 service, if she wanted that done they can do it early in January She had relied on the dealer to give her the correct servicing advice, but now feels that they had just lured her there with a £99:00 all in price, but the correct service was not carried out So i can see the same thing happening here, customers lured in with cheap prices, but incorrect servicing carried out. Modern day vehicle schedules vary vastly, a £99:00 fits all price is just the bait....... Peter

Re: Are dealers any better?
Posted by Andy Gladish on December 9, 2006, 9:43 pm, in reply to "Re: Are dealers any better?" Well had a "off the street" customer in today that came to us straight from the first of these service centers at Northampton. The reason he came to us was simply that we were open and on route to his eventual destination. He asked the manager to "do whatever needs doing" as he does 1000 miles a week and had hit the curb in his Mercedes and it now made a knocking noise. He also asked if they would change the gear box oil. After a few miles he noticed the knocking was still evident. 1)could not replace gear box oil as they had no tool to drain oil 2)could not reset service indicator as lack of ability 3)n/s/front a/r bar drop link excess play (i mean mot fail) 4)Both front lower arm front bushes detached from casings (dangerously) The biggest problem the guy has is that he was not even made aware of the suspension problems! He was told "all done Sir" and "have a nice day"! This is one chap that will not be going back! He did however like the clean surroundings and open wifi connection. Interesting legal connotations i feel! Andy.

Re: Are dealers any better?
Posted by Steve Nicholas on December 11, 2006, 8:25 pm, in reply to "Re: Are dealers any better?" I hope that my customers will find them less convenient than the service I offer - I pick the car up from their workplace and drop it off at the end of the day. No waiting, no inconvenience....but a higher bill and a GUARANTEED job. Regards, Steve
